The jackets produced by the Richmond
Clothing Bureau, and distributed by the Richmond Depot, underwent three
generally accepted modifications over the course of the war. Shown here is the
first or “Type I”. It features a six piece body, two piece sleeve, epaulettes,
and waist belt loops. Though no extant examples are believed to exist, it has
been noted through images that they were generally trimmed. We drafted our pattern
from a Type II that was found on the Gettysburg Battlefield and currently is
housed in the GNMP collection. You can choose to
have them piped or taped in the color of your choice. Also offered is the option of a red soutache as shown on the model jacket.
