S.D. Walton received a contract to manufacture
forage caps in 1861. It is a great example of a cap produced early in the war.
As with all of our forage caps it is made with some of the finest light indigo
wool we could source. It has an enameled bill and soft glazed chinstrap. You have choice of a crosshatched or plain
sweatband and a a black or brown polished silesia lining.
*Measure
the circumference of your head using a soft tailor’s tape measure. Take the
measurement starting about a thumb width above the eyebrows running above the
ears and around the head, essentially where you want to wear the cap. Have
someone else take the measurement for you if possible.
