We chose to pattern our version of the Confederate four button sack coat from the original housed at the GNMP. The coat itself is all hand-sewn and patterned similarly to other extant originals. Notably from the outside it appears to have a double row of top-stitching. In reality, it belies the increased efficiency of how this coat was constructed. The second line of stitching close to the edge is effected from the perimeter felling of the interior to the exterior.

Our coats are made from a fantastic jean made by B&B Tart (Identified as "J3" in the options menu though you can choose from others in stock). Lining is of a unbleached, osnaburg. The thread matches the original in is thickness and color. The buttons are cloth covered wood.

Thank you to Paul Shevchuk of Gettysburg NMP for his assistance and Jim Broomall for his tireless research in garment construction techniques.

Here are descriptions of the options available to you. If you have any questions, please contact us and we will be glad to assist.

Construction - 1. All hand-sewn. 2. Hidden seams machined, top stitching and buttonholes by hand. 3. Machined, hand finished buttonholes and sleeve to body lining.
