Description

This shirt we found housed in a museum in Illinois. It displays the classic characteristics of the square cut "QM" shirt with variation. It is a T-neck with gussets however it lacks shoulder reinforcements. The collar is also smaller and similar to a civilian style. The chest opening exhibits the simple fold and tack though it has two extra buttons on the placket which are original to the production of the garment. It is all hand-sewn from white Domet flannel fabric. Perhaps the most interesting detail of the shirt is the left sleeve is actually a two piece with a 3 inch wide strip making up the second part. This is a great example of the measures taken to conserve cloth. Our reproduction follows the pattern of the original (except for the piecing in the sleeve).
